What Is Part D?

Private insurance companies provide prescription drug plans that meet or exceed medicare criteria. It is important to enroll in a prescription drug plan when you first become eligible for medicare Part A and/or Part B. Your agent, Denny Shankland, will assist you in determining which prescription drug plan will benefit you the most based on your location, prescription drug list and pharmacy preference. It is important to do an annual analysis to be sure you’re in the best plan for your circumstances.

Can I Decline Part D?

If you decide to not enroll in a prescription drug plan when you first become eligible for medicare, and you do not have credible coverage through another source like an employer or veterans administration, you will incur a late enrollment penalty for each month you were without a plan that will be added on to any future premium forever.

What Is Extra Help?

If you have limited income and resources, you may qualify for help to pay for some healthcare and drug coverage costs. This help is available through state and federal cooperation. Denny Shankland will assist you in determining if you qualify for any assistance through these programs.
